Falkland Islands travel restrictions from Bulgaria

International travel to the Falkland Islands is permitted for 'essential reasons' only. There are exemptions for citizens and residents.
It is necessary to comply with requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

Exceptional travel

Exemptions are in place for 'essential reasons' including travel for business. Family and friends of residents may also enter. In these cases, travelers must be sponsored by an island resident who will be present at the time of arrival.

Other restrictions

Travelers are only allowed to use private transport or government-designated transportation to reach their final destination in the Falkland Islands.

Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), may apply for 'test to release' to shorten the quarantine period to 5 days.
A COVID-19 test will be administered within 48 hours of arrival and on day 5, those testing negative will be released from quarantine. Partially vaccinated travelers will be tested on day 8 and those testing negative will be released from quarantine.
Proof of vaccination must be sent to surveillance@kemh.gov.fk

Quarantine required

Travelers are required to self-quarantine for 10 days on arrival. Travelers may shorten this quarantine period by taking a swab test within 48 hours of arrival and on day 8 of the quarantine period. Travelers will be released from self-quarantine if two consecutive tests are confirmed negative.

Proof of a negative PCR test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on arrival.

Government measures

Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine, are exempt from pre-departure testing requirements.
The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days before departure.

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative PCR test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on arrival. Alternatively, a negative rapid antigen test can be presented, taken within 48 hours of arrival.
Travelers may instead provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19. This will require proof of a positive PCR or rapid antigen test result, taken within at least 11 days and no more than 180 days before arrival.
Arrivals without health documentation will be required to self-quarantine for 10 days. This period may be shortened if a PCR or antigen test is taken within 72 hours of arrival and a negative result is confirmed and submitted to the director of the respective regional health inspection.

Testing on arrival

Arrivals are subject to random rapid antigen testing at the airport.
