International travel to Uganda is permitted. It is necessary to comply with requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

Other restrictions

Passengers departing Uganda are required to present a negative PCR test certificate, taken within 72 hours before travel. All COVID-19 test certificates issued in Uganda must indicate the intended purpose of the test. Only test certificates which state 'travel' as the intended purpose will be valid for departure from Uganda.

Quarantine required

A PCR will be administered on arrival and travelers are required to self-isolate at their own residence or accommodation until a negative result is confirmed. The test costs $30 USD and is payable by cash, card, online, or mobile money.
Travelers testing positive but are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms will be allowed to isolate at a designated hotel. Other travelers will be transferred to a designated treatment facility at the government's expense. Travelers may also choose to be transferred to a private hospital but all costs incurred will be at the travelers' expense.

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative PCR test, taken within 72 hours prior, must be presented before departure.

Other medical measures

All passengers are subject to health screening on arrival, such as temperature checks and visual assessment. Further health testing may be required for those displaying symptoms of COVID-19.
