We continue to advise you do not travel to Ukraine due to the volatile security environment and military conflict. If you're currently in Ukraine, we urge you to depart if it's safe to do so. Do not enter into new surrogacy arrangements. Due to the Russian invasion, the security situation continues to be volatile and could deteriorate suddenly. You'll need to travel to the nearest Australian Embassy or Consulate, at your own expense, to obtain a travel document for your child. The Australian Embassy in Kyiv remains temporarily closed. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is ongoing. The security situation continues to be volatile. Heavy fighting is occurring in parts of eastern and southern Ukraine. Missile strikes and attacks are ongoing in some locations across the country, including in major cities. There have been many casualties. Foreigners have been killed and may be targeted. Do not travel to Ukraine. There is a risk to life. If you're in Ukraine, be aware of your surroundings, review your personal security plans and monitor media for information about changing security conditions and alerts to shelter in place. Carefully consider the safest means and route to depart. You're responsible for your own safety and that of your family. Follow the advice of local Ukrainian authorities. Government measures

Ukraine has been divided into color-coded 'zones’ in order to categorize restrictions. Currently, almost all of Ukraine is considered a 'yellow zone'. In all zones, people are required to carry an ID at all times. Proof of vaccination, negative test result, or previous recovery may be required to access some establishments or to attend events. Use of masks

Face masks are required in enclosed environments, on public transportation, and when attending mass events.

Public transport

Public transport is operating with limits to capacity in place. For interregional travel, proof of a vaccine certificate, a negative PCR test, or a negative express-test taken within 72 hours of travel, may be required.

Restaurants

Restaurants are open with reduced capacity in place to allow for social distancing. Seating is limited to a maximum of 4 people per table. These measures do not apply if the restaurant only accepts vaccinated, recovered, or recently tested customers.

Bars

Bars are open with reduced capacity in place to allow for social distancing. Seating is limited to a maximum of 4 people per table. These measures do not apply if the bar only accepts vaccinated, recovered, or recently tested customers.

Nightclubs

Nightclubs are open with reduced capacity for vaccinated, recovered, or recently tested customers.

Shops

Shops are open with adapted safety measures in place, such as the use of hand sanitizer and social distancing.

On return

Vaccination required

Travelers are required to present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19 with the use of an approved vaccine.
The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days before departure. Certificates must be in English or in Chinese.
Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 and received one dose of vaccination, at least 14 days before departure, are also considered fully vaccinated.
There are exemptions for non-vaccinated citizens and residents.

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative rapid antigen test, taken within the previous 24 hours, must be provided on departure.
Test certificates must be in English or Chinese.

Testing on arrival

A nucleic acid test will be administered upon arrival and apart from the transfer from the airport, proof of a negative test result is required to leave the place of residence.

Additional test requirements

Daily rapid antigen testing is required for the first 5 days after arrival. Additionally, travelers must undergo a PCR test on day 2.
