Ecuador is under a state of 'internal armed conflict' due to crime. A separate state of emergency is in effect in the provinces of El Oro, Guayas, Los Ríos, Manabí, Orellana, Santa Elena, Sucumbíos and Ponce Enríquez County in Azuay.
