Import Regulations
Free to import items into Thailand
Tobacco
- 200 cigarettes;
- 50 cigars; or
- 250 grams loose tobacco.
Alcohol
- Funds of more than US$20,000 or its equivalent must be declared to Customs.
Currency
- Funds of more than US$20,000 or its equivalent must be declared to Customs.
Other items
- Personal clothing and effects not exceeding THB20,000 in value.
Prohibited items into Thailand
- Obscene media such as literature and pictures.
- Pornographic materials.
- Narcotics, such as marijuana , hemp, opium, cocaine, morphine, and heroin.
- Counterfeit and pirated goods, including currency and Royal seals.
Restricted items into Thailand
- Food and supplementary products may require a licence from theFood and Drug Administration.
- Drugs containing narcotics may require a permit from theNarcotics Control Division of the Food and Drug Administration.
- Antiques or objects of art may require permission from theFine Arts Department.
- Weapons, real or replica firearms, ammunition, explosives, and fireworks may require a licence from theMinistry of Interior.
- Controlled cosmetics must be declared.
- Wild fauna and flora may require permission from theDepartment of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, theDepartment of Agriculture, or theDepartment of Fisheries.
- Endangered animals, plants, and their derivative products protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) may require protected species permits. For further information, please visitCITES.

Restricted items from Thailand
- Funds of more than US$20,000 or its equivalent must be declared to Customs.
- Funds of up to THB50,000 may be exported from Thailand. Funds of up to THB2,000,000 may be taken over the border to Vietnam and the Yunnan District of China. Travellers to these areas must declare any amount over THB450,000 to Customs.
