International travel to Ghana is permitted. It is necessary to comply with requirements to ensure entry is permitted.

Vaccination required

Travelers are required to present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of a vaccine authorized. The list of approved vaccines can be found at

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative PCR test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on departure. Travelers are advised to have tests done at certified testing providers. A list of certified testing providers can be found at
The test result must be validated via the Africa Union Trusted Travel or UNDP Global Haven systems. Travelers without an account must create an account on the Africa Union Trusted Travel platform. This will generate a digital Trusted Travel reference code which must be presented alongside the test result on arrival.

Testing on arrival

A COVID-19 test will be administered upon arrival. The test costs $50 USD for Ghanaians and ECOWAS citizens and $150 USD for the rest of the travelers. The test must be pre-paid online at
Those testing positive will undergo further medical assessment and quarantine at their own expense.

Other medical measures

All passengers are subject to health screening on arrival, such as temperature checks and visual assessment. Further health testing may be required for those displaying symptoms of COVID-19.
Travelers testing positive will undergo 7-day isolation at a designated facility at the travelers' expense. This does not apply to citizens.

Government measures

Vaccination required

Foreign travelers are required to present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19. The final dose must have been administered at least 21 days before departure.
Residents are not required to present a vaccine certificate but unvaccinated residents will be required to self-isolate for 10 days. Vaccinated residents are subject to a 4 day self-isolation period and will be tested on day 4.

Quarantine required

Foreign travelers are required to quarantine for 4 days on arrival. The type of accommodation travelers that will complete the quarantine period will depend on the reason for travel.

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative COVID-19 test, taken between 2 to 5 days prior, must be provided on arrival. RT-PCR, nucleic acid amplification tests (NAA), and RNA or molecular tests are accepted.
Alternatively, a negative antigen test can be presented, taken within the previous 48 hours of arrival.

Testing on arrival

An RT-PCR will be administered on arrival and self-isolation is required until a negative result is confirmed. Results are usually provided within 12 hours. The test will be prepaid during the 'entry permission' application for a cost of $50.00 USD.
Whilst in isolation most hotel facilities cannot be used, aside from restaurants and delivery services. Additionally, it is prohibited to rent a vehicle until the negative result is confirmed.
