Turkey travel restrictions from UK

International travel to Turkey is permitted. It is necessary to comply with requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

Open with conditions

If another country has been visited in the previous 14 days that is on the suspended list, travelers are subject to further testing and quarantine requirements, regardless of vaccination status. The list of high-risk countries, quarantine duration, and test dates can be found at https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-us/announcements/coronavirus-outbreak/turkey-travel-rules/

Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine, are exempt from pre-departure testing requirements.
The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days before departure. All vaccines approved by the World Health Organization are accepted. Further information on vaccinations can be found at https://www.visasturkey.com/vaccinations-for-turkey/

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative PCR test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on departure. Alternatively, a negative rapid antigen test can be provided, taken within 48 hours of departure.
Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from testing requirements and may provide proof of a positive antigen or PCR test, taken at least 14 days and not more than 180 days of departure.

Other medical measures

All travelers are subject to medical evaluation on arrival. Passengers showing symptoms of being unwell will undergo a PCR test at the airport. If a positive result is returned, self-quarantine at a government facility will be required at the traveler's expense.

Additional documents required

A 'traveler health certificate' must be completed within 72 hours of departure. - Traveler health certificate

Government measures

Although restrictions are gradually lifting, they may be re-introduced at any time and preventative health measures remain encouraged. Smoking is currently prohibited in open areas. We recommend keeping up to date with official local guidelines. A map of the regions and risk levels can be found in Turkish at https://covid19.saglik.gov.tr/

Use of masks

Face masks are required in public spaces, enclosed environments, and while on public transport.

Public transport

Public transportation is operating as usual for foreign travelers. Turkish citizens and residents must have a 'travel permit' which can be applied for at https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/
Turkish citizens and residents must also download the 'Hayat Eve Sigar' (HES) application which will generate a code for domestic and international flights, train, and ferry travel. The HES code may also be requested when checking in to accommodation or when entering public places. This does not apply to foreign travelers.

Restaurants

Restaurants are open as usual.

Bars

Bars are open as usual.

Nightclubs

Nightclubs remain closed to limit the rate of transmission.

Shops

Shops and services are open with adapted safety measures in place, such as the use of hand sanitizer and social distancing.

On return

Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19 issued in the departure country, or other selected countries, are exempt from pre-departure testing, post-arrival testing on day 8, and quarantine requirements. The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days before departure.
Vaccinated travelers are still required to book a PCR test to be administered on or before day 2 after arrival and complete a passenger locator form. Travelers testing positive on the PCR test will be required to self-isolate for 10 days.
Vaccination exemptions will only apply if the full dose and certificate were issued in the United Kingdom, Europe, United States, and other specific countries. A full list of authorized vaccines and issuing countries can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england

Quarantine required

Unvaccinated travelers are required to self-quarantine for 10 days on arrival at their own residence or accommodation, or the full duration of the trip if staying less than 10 days.
If traveling to England, travelers may apply for the 'Test to Release' scheme to be tested on the fifth day after arrival and be relieved from self-quarantine early, if the result is negative. Those with a positive result will be required to self-isolate for a further 10 days.
Further details can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-test-to-release-for-international-travel

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative nucleic acid test, such as a PCR, LAMP, or antigen test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on departure. This certificate must be in English, French, or Spanish.
Further information on tests such as the minimum standards accepted can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england#test-providers-and-type-of-test

Testing on arrival

Unvaccinated travelers are required to purchase a 'COVID Testing Package' before departure, for 'Day 2 and day 8 tests'. These tests must be administered twice during the self-quaratine, on or before day 2 and on day 8.
Vaccinated travelers who meet the exemption criteria are only required to book a 'Day 2 test'. This booked test must be a PCR test and administered after arrival, on or before day 2. Self-isolation is required until a negative test result is confirmed.
Proof of booking is a mandatory requirement for travelers, regardless of the duration of their stay, but the tests only have to be taken if the travelers are still in the United Kingdom on the test dates.
Tests can be booked directly at https://quarantinehotelbookings.ctmportal.co.uk/ or a list of approved third-party test providers can be found at https://www.gov.uk/find-travel-test-provider
