Turkmenistan travel restrictions from Belgium

International travel to Turkmenistan is permitted for 'essential reasons' only. This does not apply to nationals and long-term residents.

Exceptional travel

Exemptions to the border closure are in place for employees of international companies and organizations traveling for business. Travel for tourism is not permitted.

Other restrictions

Travelers wishing to leave Turkmenistan must present a negative test certificate signed by a doctor within 24 hours of intended travel.

Vaccination required

Travelers are required to present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine. The first dose must have been administered at least 42 days before arrival. Alternatively, proof of testing for the presence of antibodies to COVID-19 (IgM/IgG) can be presented.

Quarantine required

Travelers are required to quarantine for 21 days on arrival at a government facility.

Testing on arrival

A PCR test will be administered on arrival before being directed to the quarantine facility. If a positive result is received, travelers must follow the instructions of health officials.

Government measures

Although restrictions are gradually lifting, they may be re-introduced at any time and preventative health measures remain encouraged. Large gatherings are currently restricted. We recommend keeping up-to-date with local guidelines throughout your trip.

Public transportation is operating at a very limited capacity. All road borders are closed and traffic police checkpoints have been established around major population centers, including Ashgabat. Road users may be subject to temperature screening. Rail services are suspended.

Shops

Essential services are open with adapted safety measures in place, such as the use of hand sanitizer and social distancing. Non-essential businesses are closed.

On return

Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, can enter without an essential reason and are exempt from quarantine requirements and testing after arrival. Vaccinated travelers must still provide a pre-departure test.
The final dose of a vaccine authorized by the European Medicines Agency or Covishield must have been administered at least 14 days before departure. Quarantine required

Travelers are required to quarantine for 10 days on arrival. A PCR test will be administered on days 1 and 7, the quarantine period may be shortened if the second test is confirmed negative. If a positive result is confirmed, travelers must follow the instructions of health officials.
Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from quarantine requirements and may provide proof of a positive antigen or PCR test, taken not more than 180 days before departure. Recovered travelers will be administered a test on arrival.
Those visiting Belgium for a maximum of 48 hours are exempt from quarantine requirements.

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative PCR test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on arrival. Alternatively, a negative rapid antigen test can be provided, taken within the previous 48 hours of arrival. The certificate must be in Dutch, English, French, or German.
Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from testing requirements and may provide proof of a positive antigen or PCR test, taken not more than 180 days before departure.
Testing requirements do not apply to residents of Belgium.
