Mongolia travel restrictions from Ireland

International travel to Mongolia is not permitted. Exemptions are in place for nationals and residents of Mongolia.

Open with conditions

If another country has been visited in the previous 14 days that is considered high-risk, travelers will be required to quarantine for 10 days on arrival at a government-approved hotel, at their own expense. During this period, travelers are required to take two PCR tests. Vaccinated travelers are not exempt from this requirement.
A list of high-risk countries can be found at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/mongolia/entry-requirements

Exceptional travel

Exemptions to the border closure are in place for long-stay and business visa holders. Travel for tourism is not permitted.

Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine, are exempt from quarantine requirements. The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days before travel.

Quarantine required

Travelers are required to self-quarantine for 14 days on arrival at their own residence or accommodation.
Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from quarantine requirements and may provide proof of a positive COVID-19 test, issued at least 14 days before arrival and not more than 4 months on arrival.

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative PCR test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be presented on arrival.

The Government of Mongolia has placed the country under an โ€œOrange Levelโ€ status or โ€œpartial heightened state of readinessโ€ and gatherings are currently banned. Although restrictions are gradually lifting, they may be re-introduced at any time and preventative health measures remain encouraged. We recommend keeping up-to-date with official guidelines throughout your trip.

Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine, must present proof of a negative antigen test, taken within the previous 48 hours of arrival. This would replace the requirement to provide a PCR test.
The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days before departure. Full details and the list of approved vaccines can be found at https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/77952-government-advice-on-international-travel/

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative RT-PCR test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on arrival. This may also be required prior to boarding the flight.
Alternatively, those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 may present a negative antigen test instead, taken within 48 hours of arrival, along with proof of a positive PCR test, taken at least 11 days before arrival and not more than 180 days.
Test results must be in English or Irish, self tests are not accepted.
