International travel to Nepal is permitted. It is necessary to comply with requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

Exceptional travel

Exemptions to the border closure are in place place for those with valid tourist visas.

Vaccinated traveller exceptions

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine, may undergo self-quarantine at home for 7 days. Travelers must still undergo RT-PCR testing on day 7 and day 11 after their arrival.

Quarantine required

Travelers are required to undergo a 7-day quarantine at a government-approved hotel at the traveler's expense. Travelers must undergo RT-PCR testing on day 7 and day 11 after their arrival.

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative RT-PCR test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on departure. Gene Xpert and True NAAT tests are also accepted.

Additional documents required

An 'online entry form' must be completed and a printed copy of the barcode received is required upon departure. Valid health insurance with coverage of at least 100,000 NPR, including full treatment for COVID-19, is required for all travelers. - Health declaration form

Government measures

In addition to safety guidelines, preventative health measures such as frequent hand washing and social distancing are encouraged to combat further outbreaks. More restrictive or relaxed guidance may be in effect depending on the region you are visiting. A second test will be administered on arrival, at the traveler's expense of USD $60 which is payable in cash only. Those with a positive result must follow instructions from local health authorities in respect to quarantine.
